I am the West Coast version of you! I have a 15 month-old daughter named Safiyah.. and as I came across your blog today, I read it aloud to my husband and we both agreed that it could be me writing about our own little Safiyah. So wierd.. and cool. I am also a Muslimah, a closet writer with a blog dedicated to MY Safiyah, a filmmaker, artist, and teacher. I look forward to reading more of your blog.
